Introducing TheraSuit™
- This unique and intensive
therapy treatment is based on the Adeli Suit, first used by
Russian Cosmonauts in the early 1970's to prevent muscle atrophy
in space. It was adapted for physical therapy use by a
Russian businessman and has been used in Europe to treat
cerebral palsy patients since 1992.
The suit consists of a modified
vest. shorts, knee pads, and shoes. The pieces of the suit
are laced together with flexible bungee-like cords that can be
adjusted to provide varying pounds of pressure to needed muscle
groups. These tension cords form a sort of outer
"skeleton" and are tightened to support and correct weak
muscles.
Through the system of elastic
rubber bands, a patient's body is aligned as close to normal as
possible. This restoration of posture and proper function
of postural muscles allows the patient to learn (or relearn)
proper patterns of movement. The patient's body is loaded
with very specific and unique pressure that restores deep
proprioception from joints, ligaments and muscles. The
TheraSuit provides external stabilization to the trunk and
therefore allows more fluent and coordinated movement for both
upper and lover extremities.
Fine and gross motor skills
improve in 94% of patients. Speech productivity and
fluency is noted in 64%, but the major improvement occurs in the
vestibular system. The vestibular system, through the
position of the body, records and analyzes the muscle tone
necessary to execute the movement.
When the TheraSuit is applied,
very specific and precise placement of the elastic bands move
the entire body back over one's heels an into a more vertical
position. The center of gravity moves back between the
feet. Very noticeable changes in muscle tone take place.
A more relaxed and upright posture with corrected alignment of
TheraSuit normalizes muscle tone through postural changes.
TheraSuit is used to treat
patients diagnosed with cerebral palsy, hemiplegia, stroke,
developmental delays, ataxia, athetosis, traumatic brain
injuries and many other neurological disorders. It is also
a beneficial tool for patients with Sensory Integration
Dysfunction and Autism Spectrum Disorders.

UNIVERSAL EXERCISE UNIT THERAPY |
|
 |
Also known as the "monkey cage" and
the "spider cage". This
treatment uses a very unique cage-like device to perform a
variety of exercises from strengthening and stretching to gait
training on a treadmill. It also utilizes a system of
pulleys to isolate muscle groups and allow for strengthening
without compensating with other muscle groups.
When used as a "spider cage", a
system of bungee cords allows your child to experience more
independent movements including weight shifting and assisted
movements such as sit to stand, 4-point, squats and even
jumping. The therapist will assist in guiding your child
to perform these activities and allow your child to experience
many different movements. |

SENSORY
INTEGRATION THERAPY |
|
 |
Sensory integration is a neurological process that organizes
sensations from one's body and from the environment and makes it
possible to use the body effectively in the environment. (A.J.
Ayres, 1989).Sensory systems influence development and
occupational performance in exploring, playing, eating,
sleeping, doing homework, going to school and family outings.
The central nervous system is a complex system. It's
plasticity allows great potential for neurological structure and
functional changes to occur as a result of experiences.
There is great emphasis on the influence and importance of
vestibular, tactile, deep pressure, and propriocetive systems on
development.
A sensory integration approach can be effective intervention
for children with Sensory Dysfunction, Autism Spectrum Disorders
and Attention Deficit Disorders.

HYPERBARIC OXYGEN THERAPY |
 |
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT or HBO) is a painless procedure
in which a person is exposed to increased pressure, thus
allowing greater absorption of oxygen throughout body tissues.
This increased pressure allows more oxygen to reach the cells
within the body therefore contributing to many healing and
therapeutic benefits. When utilizing HBOT, oxygen is forced into
the tissues, organs, brain and fluids throughout the body
through the pressurization of the hyperbaric chamber.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatments can be used for a multitude of
conditions including but not limited to:
●
Cerebral Palsy
● Specified/Unspecified Neurological Defects
● Autism, ADHD, Sensory Dysfunction
● Multiple Sclerosis, Traumatic Brain Injury
● Chronic Fatigue/Chronic Pain/Joint Pain
● Overall wellness health for adults
A parent is welcome to join their child in the hyperbaric
chamber and also receive the benefits and overall wellness. Call
for more information about the latest research utilizing HBOT.

INTERACTIVE METRONOME |
|
 |
Interactive Metronome is a
neurological assessment and treatment tool that is redefining
traditional expectations for pediatric and adult therapy
outcomes to a higher functional level.
Interactive Metronome can improve
cognitive, communicative, behavioral and motor deficiencies in
clients with:
●
Auditory and Sensory Processing
Disorders
● Dyslexia and other Learning Disorders
● Autism Spectrum Disorders
● Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorders
● Tourettes Syndrome
● Stroke
● Traumatic Brain Injury
● Unspecified Neurological Disorders. |
| |
SAEBO® |
|
 |
Saebo® improves upper extremity
motor recovery following a stroke. It is an approach to stroke
treatment which will allow clients with no hand function to
begin using their hand in therapy and at home.
● SaeboStretch®
● SaeboFlex®
● SaeboReach®
The Saebo® is a functional dynamic orthoses developed for
individuals with neurological impairments of weakness, muscle
tone, impaired motor control, decreased coordination and
spasticity.

CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY |
|
 |
CranioSacral Therapy uses light
hands-on pressure at specific points in the body which can
create dynamic improvements in your life. The craniosacral
system consists of the cranial bones, the bones of the spine,
the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord, the
cerebral spinal fluid, and all the fascia in your body.
CranioSacral Therapy releases tension deep in these structures
to relieve pain and dysfunction and improve whole-body health
and performance. Since the craniosacral system is intimately
related to the central nervous system and the musculoskeletal
system it has a direct impact on their function. CranioSacral
Therapy can help people with the following:
● Headaches
● Scoliosis
● Chronic pain
● Traumatic brain injury
● Spinal cord/nerve injury
● Cerebral Palsy
● Abnormal tone
● Seizure disorder
● Autism
● Sensory processing dysfunction
● TMJ syndrome
● And many other conditions
